Stop motion is the “slow food” of animation. It’s hands-on, physical, magical, but also a lot of hard work. One of the rising stars of the new generation of stop motion animation directors is Valerie Pirson. She was “discovered” by Michel Gondry and worked on his second feature The Science of Sleep. We spent a day with Valerie in Paris and filmed her at her studio where we talked animation. And she gave us a peek at the animation process. She also took us to a meeting with a client at Partizan – the agency that represents her.
