Stand By or Stand Up?

Submarine Channel recently produced 4 interactive animated book trailers, which received quite a bit of positive feedback. Canada’s National Center for Missing & Exploited Children was quite smitten with our interactive scrollers, and commissioned Submarine to create an interactive animated story to help children understand the consequences of being bullied.

To create the art, we brought in Michiel Wijdeveld, an amazing Dutch illustrator and comic artist who works in a style known as “Klare Lijn” or “Ligne Claire” – a crispy clear drawing style made famous by the likes of Hergé (TinTin) and Joost Swarte (Video Profile).

‘Stand By or Stand Up’ is an interactive comic that plays in your browser by scrolling. School is and remains a very important place where young people meet and spend a large part of their lives. But they also spend a lot of time online. This short animated story was created to help children understand their own behavior when someone is being bullied, online and offline. Navigating through this story will present you with the consequences of your choices. Will you stand by or stand up?
